CALIFORNIA INLAND FISHERIES FOUNDATION, INC. – Project Eagle Lake Trout

Saturday, July 5, 2014 – Another fun family fundraising event – the Annual Traditional July 4th Celebration – held at Arnold’s Eagle Lake RV Park & Store, Spalding Tract on the shores of Eagle Lake!  Many familiar faces plus scores of new ones in the crowd of around 400 people, obviously enjoyed the festivities, including the “Star Spangled Banner” which was “kazoo-ed” by all!  The horseshoe tournament, kids casting contest, American Legion parade, the new “Wine-O-Plinko” Game, kids free raffle and the Giant CIFFI Raffle, kept folks entertained.  Hamburgers, hotdogs and trimmings plus decadent desserts fit the July 4th mode and the excellent weather all made for an enjoyable day.

California Inland Fisheries Foundation, Inc. (CIFFI) and Project Eagle Lake Trout continue to provide support to CDFW to manage this fine fishery.  Two major fundraisers are held each year and a PELT Steering Committee provides direction in disbursing funds, purchasing equipment, manpower, safety items, etc.  Additional funding, as needed, covers seasonal aides and help at CDFW hatcheries to rear Bonus Eagle Lake trout.

Thanks to the CIFFI volunteers…Cliff & Shirley Spediacci, Karen & Allan Grossman, Gary & Leslie Pilkington!  Other folks included Tim & Maribeth Noxon, Gary & Judy Davis, Ron & Gwen Beck & Gwen’s sister Sandy & her husband, Mike & Kate Arnold plus their cooking crew led by Don Pearson & Brandon & Amber Doss.  Their efforts paid off & a good time was had by all.

The next event, the Family Fun Fall Fundraising Festival, is coming Saturday, August 30, 2014.  CIFFI encourages everyone to make plans to enjoy a day at the park with games, fishing guides, BBQ tri-tip or chicken, kids raffle, live auction and a huge raffle.  Bring your boat and enjoy the great rainbow trout fishery at the lake – the water is down but Eagle Lake is still the second largest natural lake in the State!  Launching is not a problem at the south end, plus that’s where all the big fish are!  For more info www.ciffi.org or call 530.825.3133 or 800.459.5179 or 209.810.9603.
